What's New in WBT Manager™  1.90

Support for Multiple Concurrent Languages in the Web module

In previous versions WBT Manager could support only one language in a given virtual directory on the Web server. To have multiple languages available it was necessary to create an additional virtual directory for each language. Users had to be directed to the correct virtual directory for their language via a particular URL. There were also a number of text strings that were loaded directly from the WBT Manager database that could not exist in multiple languages within the same database.

However in version 1.9 multiple language support means that a set of languages can exist within a single virtual directory and that ALL standard user interface text can exist in more than one language. The user's desired language is displayed when they log on. The user can also change their desired language through the WBT Manager student and local administrator interfaces.

New Certificate Program Features

Version 1.9 of WBT Manager™ introduces a number of new certificate program features and enhancements.

1. Manual Results Entry for Certificate Programs

In prior versions there was no standard way to modify results for certificate programs. In version 1.9 the Enter/Edit Results routine in the Local Administrator interface includes an option for entering status for certificate programs. Administrators can modify certificate program status and create, edit, and delete certificates for those programs that allow them.

2. Completion Rules

In prior versions a certificate program was considered complete only when all of the courses included in the program were completed. In version 1.9 a completion rule can be set for a program. Completion rules use a logical expression to determine when a program is completed. This allows for optional courses in the program.

3. New certificate expiration date options

In prior versions the expiration date for a certificate was calculated by adding a set number of days or months to the date that the program was completed. In version 1.9 there are several new options which allow a certificate to expire on a specific day of the month.

4. Support for early re-certification

In prior versions a student could not start re-taking a certificate program until after any existing certificate had expired. In version 1.9 a program can be set to allow re-certification before the current certificate expires.

5. New Certificate program course reset options

In prior versions the courses in a certificate program needed to be reset (or dropped and re-assigned) manually by an administrator prior to a student re-taking a program. In version 1.9 the courses can be reset by an administrator, by the student, or automatically.

Ad-hoc Reports

Version 1.9's new create/edit ad-hoc reports menu item allows system and optionally Web-based administrators to define simple reports in either HTML or CSV format. Ad-hoc reports can be shared with other administrators or with students.

Miscellaneous New Features

1. Students and local administrators can directly update selected fields in their own records through a new Edit Profile function.

2. System and local administrators can reset statistics for courses instead of having to drop and reassign courses.

3. The web module can be configured to no longer display the "session created" message when launching a lesson.

4. Lessons can be configured to not show the "already completed" message when re-launching a lesson that is completed.
